Our Aims

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

  • We are focusing on cooperative play and encourage turn taking and sharing.

Early Mathematical Experiences

  • We continue to reinforce counting accurately during the course of play.

Physical Development and Movement

  • To enhance fine motor skills by providing children with the opportunity to mark make on vertical surfaces, eg white boards, clip boards and blackboards both inside and outside.
  • Vertical surfaces allow for bigger arm movements thus increasing strength and flexibility.
  • Upright surfaces naturally put the wrist in an extended position that allows for better control when using a pencil.

The Arts

  • The children are making their own representations minibeasts through drawing and the use of junk art.
  • We would explore various minibeast movements and noises and incorporate these into our rhymes.

Language Development

  • Children will be encouraged to use prepositions during the course of play- eg on top of, beside, under, over etc. put the cow in the barn?”
  • The children are encouraged to explore syllables and we continue to support them clapping out sounds in their name and the names of their peers.

World Around Us

  • Children are naturally curious and ask relevant questions to gain information. During this topic we discuss facts about the different minibeasts.
  • The children will plant various seeds, observe and discuss their development and become aware of the importance of light, water and warmth.

Upcoming Trips

  • We look forward to our ‘Forest’ trip. We will be leaving at 9:15am and returning at 1:15pm.
  • We also look forward to our ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ trip. We will be leaving at 9:15am and returning at 11:30am.

Yoga

  • We are very excited to announce the children will have the opportunity to participate in ‘Yoga’ sessions every Friday in May.
  • We look forward to sharing pictures and videos with you on Seesaw.
